*“No! Zack's my friend! My best friend! I'm not leaving him!” You yell finally letting the tears that you had held back run free.

She shook her head. “They won't let you in with him anyway. Not with his condition.” Condition? That word scared you. Was Zack really in that bad of a condition?! The tears fall faster as she closes the door and the ambulance speeds away.*

You fall to your knees, burying your face in your hands. “Zack...” Tears stream down your face. “Zack...” You breath heavily. You feel a cold touch on your shoulder. You look up to see Jack kneeling beside you. He didn't speak. What could he say? You fall into his arms. He wraps his arms around you, and lets you cry. “Zack... Zack...” You sob, squeezing Jack tighter.

“Hey, it's okay. It's okay. I'm sure Zack will be fine.” Jack says while rubbing your back, attempting to comfort you. You continue to cry, squeezing him even tighter. “Hey, come on. It'll be okay.” You look up to meet his eyes, those bright blue eyes. You begin to calm down as you stare into his caring eyes.

“Jack...” You say as you fall back into the hug. He holds you again. Then, he moves you to face him.

“Come on, let's go check on Zack.” He said with a smile. You look at him with uncertainty.

“How? Mom said I wouldn't be able to see Zack in his... in his...” Your eyes fill with tears again. Jack pulls you into another short hug. Then, he pulls away and smirks.

“Leave that to me.” He says with his normal happy attitude. He helps you stand up. “Ready sunshine?” He said playfully. You couldn't help but smile. You nod, wiping the tears from your eyes. He once again grabs you and kicks off the ground. The two of you go soaring into the cold air. You hang on tightly, more for comfort than safety. Jack was warm. You thought a winter spirit would be cold, and he was, but something about him made you feel warm in his arms. You snuggle a bit closer as if you were a child in her mother's arms. He didn't seem to mind. That made you feel a little better.

Jack was here. He was here to protect you as he did for every child. But, he was always there for you. Not only after you moved, but before you moved, too. As a child, you grew up around older kids. They were always busy or at school while you were stuck at home to entertain yourself. Your mother used to work on the family business at home while your dad was out doing the grunt work of the business. So, neither had much time to play with you. You always felt lonely, except for when it snowed. When it snowed, you had something to play with, or rather, someone now that you knew it was Jack Frost.

You look up at him with a sad smile. You were very happy your childhood friend had returned to your life and that you had finally met the real him, but you couldn't shake your worries for Zack. He sneaks a look at you. He smiles.

“Hey, everything's going to be okay. Once Zack is healed, we can all have a little fun together! What do you say?” He says cheerfully. You smile back and nod.

“Okay.” You say.

Just then, you reach the hospital. Jack lands to the side of the building so no one will notice the random floating girl. He sets you down, and floats to the front of the building. You follow. He motions for you to go in. “Go find Zack. I'll be waiting here.” He said sweetly. You nod.

“Thanks Jack!” You give him a big bear hug. Then, you run inside. You walk up to the front desk. A small woman with black glasses sat at the desk.

“How may I help you, young lady?” She asked politely, yet as if she was in a rush.

“I'm here to see my friend. He was just brought here in an ambulance.” You reply.

“Name?” She asked, not looking up from her paperwork.

“Zackery Truesdale.” You say anxiously. She looks up. Uh oh, you think.

“I'm sorry. Currently, there are no visitors allowed for that patient.” She said.

“Why?!” You shout, attracting some of the waiting patients' attention.

“He was in critical condition. He is stabilized now, but no visitors are allowed.” She said, attempting to calm you down. It didn't work.

“I'm his best friend! I'm the only one he has right now! You have to let me see him!” You raise your voice even more.

“I'm sorry! But, I can't let you in unless you are a member of his family.” She said firmly. She got up and prepared to leave, probably to get security.

“Wait! I'm... I'm his girlfriend!” You blurt out without thinking. The women looked as shocked as you did. “I'm Zack's only family. The only one he has. His parents are both dead. They died in a car crash, and his foster parents don't care about him. My mother came with him in the ambulance. We are his only family!” You cry out. You can't believe you just said all that! You can't believe you just claimed to be Zack's girlfriend! The women just stood there stunned. She looked you straight in the eyes. Then, she finally spoke.

“Is your name (y/n)?” She asked without moving an inch. You look at her in shock.

“Y-yes.” You say, unable to say anything else.

“Follow me.” She said. She believed you?! Why?! How?! You and Zack were about four years a part and you definitely looked it. So,  why would she believe that you are Zack's girlfriend? And, what was with that question? How did she know your name? The questions race around your head as you follow the women up the elevator and down the hall. She stops at the tenth door on your right. She quickly checks the paperwork next to the door. Then, she opens the door to reveal Zack sleeping peacefully in a hospital bed. You rush over to him and grab his hand. Tears reform in your eyes and slide down your cheeks. The woman smiled upon seeing the sweet reunion (of course, thinking you two were an actual couple.)

“Only family is allowed to see patients in his condition, but...” You look up at her. Then, you hear a voice. Zack's voice! He groaned.
“(y/n)...” He mumbled. You couldn't believe your ears! Did Zack just... did he just say your name?

“Zack?!” You say, hoping for a reply.

“He's been mumbling your name in his sleep for a while now.” The small woman said. What? Zack had been calling for you? Why? Why you? “Your mother already left. I think she wanted to tell you about his condition and how he was calling you in his sleep.” The women looked at you with sad eyes. You eyes return the gaze with fear.

“Will he... will Zack be okay?” You ask afraid of the answer.

“He has stabilized, but we don't know when he'll wake up. He's... he's entered a coma.” She said hesitantly. What?! Zack was... Zack was in a coma! Your tears fall faster.

“Zack?” You call to him. No answer. “Zack?! Please wake up! You can't leave me! Your my best friend! Zack!” You bury your head in his sheets, still holding his hand. “Zack...” You sob. The women turns and walk towards the door.

“I'll leave you two alone for a while.” She walked out the door.

“Zack...” You cry into the sheets. You don't know how long you spent with Zack, but you didn't care. Zack needed you. He always did, but he needed you now more than ever. You hear a knock on the door.

“Excuse me.” You turn around to see a new woman wearing a nurse uniform. She walked over to you. “But, visiting hours were are over now.” You look back at Zack sadly. You say one last good-bye, then, let go of his hand. But, he doesn't let go.

“(y/n)...” He muttered. You cover your mouth as a drop of salty water rolls down your cheek.

“Zack...” You look down shaking your head. You look back at Zack with a fake smile. “I'll come back soon, okay? So, you better wake up soon! Got it?” You say with both happiness and sadness. Zack releases his grip as if he heard you. You pull away and walk towards the door. The woman stops you, and smiles sweetly.

“He's lucky to have a girlfriend like you.” She said with content. You look back at Zack for the last time, then, return to the entrance of the hospital. You continue walking all the way home. You don't stop. You don't enjoy the softly falling snow. You don't think about anything but Zack. You reach your house. You enter and walk straight passed your mom. She didn't stop you. You head up to you room and get into you bed without changing. Then, you cry. You let all your feelings out at once, and you cry yourself to sleep.

-------------------------------------------------------

Jack's POV

I watch you rush into the hospital, worried for your hurting friend. What happened to him? He was fine one minute and down the next. I wonder to myself. Was it my fault? You started defending me and then Zack passes out? Why? What could have caused something like this? I watch through the glass as you begin to look very frustrated.

“So they won't let her in after all.” I said to myself, preparing for her return. Wait, no. The woman let you in. I watch as both you and the woman disappear into the elevator. From what it looked like, the elevator stopped on the fifth floor. Good. Now, I'll just go check every window on that floor for you, and meet you in there when the woman leaves. I was just about to take off when I feel something tug on my pants.

“Jack Jack!” I look down to face a small blond-haired, fairy-winged child.

“Sophie?!” What was Sophie doing here?! More importantly, what was she doing here alone?!

“Sooooophie!” Another voice called.

“Jamie?!” Jamie ran up to me.

“Jack! What are you doing here?!” He asked excitedly. I didn't know how to explain what happened with you and Zack to two small kids. It's probably best they don't know for now. I put on a smile, despite my current worries.

“I could ask you the same thing, kiddo! I thought you were at the doctor's.” I say giving Jamie's hair a ruffle. He laughs.

“I was! The doctor's place is right next to the hospital. Mom told us to wait outside on the bench while she filled out some extra paperwork. We got to the bench, but Sophie ran off, so I went after her. And, she ran into you!” Jamie said trying to contain his happiness.

“You should head back. Your mother will be worried about you two.” Jamie frowns, obviously not wanting say good-bye so soon. Sophie takes my hand and pulls me to follow her. I look back at the lobby of the hospital. Then, I turn to Jamie. “I'll come with you! Come on, kiddo!” I say, figuring you would take a while before you went home.

“Okay!” Jamie said smiling. I walk alongside Jamie as he trots happily back to the bench. Sophie still has my hand.

“Jack Jack! How bunny?!” She says. She still can't form full sentences. I grin at her.

“You be the Kangaroo? He's as serious as always!” I say to her. She giggles. We reached the bench. I wait with the two children, entertaining them until there mother returns. The kids' mother walked out of the building.

“I'm done. I hope you two didn't get to bored waiting for me.” She said while picking up Sophie. I let go of Sophie's hand as she does. Jamie grins at me. I give him a wink. “How about we drink some nice hot chocolate when we get home?”

“Yeah!” Jamie jumped with excitement and followed his mother to the car. He looked back at me and waved. I waved back until they drove off. Then, I turned and flew straight to the fifth floor of the hospital! I checked ever window. Maybe it wasn't on this floor. Just as I was about to check the next floor up, I found you. I peered through the window to see you crying next to Zack.

“Will he... will Zack be okay?” She asked the desk lady. Jack leaned closer to the window to hear.

“He has stabilized, but we don't know when he'll wake up. He's... he's entered a coma.” She replied. Oh no?! Zack was in a coma?! You began to cry harder. I just sat there and stared at her, trying to imagine how you felt.  I wanted to comfort you.

“Zack?” You called to him. He didn't answer. You began to yell at him. “Zack?! Please wake up! You can't leave me! Your my best friend! Zack!” You buried your head in his sheets, still holding his hand. “Zack...” You repeated. The women turns and walk towards the door.

“I'll leave you two alone for a while.” She walked out the door.

You were left alone with just Zack. You kept crying into the sheets and calling his name. He never answered. I decide it would be best for me to just wait outside. I float there watching you as you sobs silently. You stayed for hours! And, I stayed along with you, watching silently from the window. A nurse walks into the room.

“Excuse me. But, visiting hours were are over now.” You seemed upset. I could tell that you didn't want to leave.

“(y/n)...” Zack spoke! He actually spoke! You began to cry even more.

“Zack...” You smiled at him. It was obviously a fake smile. “I'll come back soon, okay? So, you better wake up soon! Got it?” You pull away and walk towards the door. The women told you something, but I couldn't make it out. Then, they both left. I fly towards the front of the building and spotted you leaving. You didn't stop. You looked down at the ground and walked straight home. I have to cheer her up! I give my staff a twirl and whisper to the wind. Gentle snow begins to fall. I fly over to you and shadow you silently. You take no notice to the white gift. You made it to your house and went straight to bed.

“I have to do something!” I say out loud. I look up at the moon. “And, you do too! She believes in you too now!” No answer, as usual. I may be a guardian now, but Mim still doesn't share much of “information” with me.

Suddenly, brilliant golden lights begin to shine over the city. “Sandy!” I head straight for the source and find the plump golden man. “Sandy!” I call to him.

Sandy spots me and smiles. He finishes spreading the last of tonight's dreams, then, floats over to me. He waves.

“Sandy! I'm glad to see you. I need your help!” Maybe Sandy could help Zack with his coma. Sleep was his specialty!

He gives me a confused look, then, draws a question mark over his head. I explain everything that happened over the past two days. Sandy listens carefully and nods. A snowflake, the symbol of the wind, and a first aid sign appear over his head.

“Alright, I'll take you there.” I take one last look at your house. Then, I lead Sandy to the hospital. We float up to the fifth floor and find Zack's room. I peer inside through the window of the gloomy room. Zack's condition hasn't changed. I was just about to ask Sandy for his thoughts on the situation when I spied an opening. The window was slightly opened. It wasn't like that before. Did one of the nurses leave it open? I did think much of it because it meant we could get closer to see Zack's condition. I open the window further and fly in. Sandy follows. I point to Zack.

“That's Zack. Can you help him?” I ask. Sandy floated closer to Zack so his could get a better look.

Suddenly, Sandy's face turned from a smile to a look of horror!

“What's wrong, Sandy?!” I shoot him a look of worry.

Sandy keeps the horrified look on his face. He just stares at Zack.

“Sandy?!”
Okay, okay! Here's chapter 6! :icongreatjobplz: I finally got to finish it!

First, I need to tell you all I'm sorry! I didn't even consider putting Zack in a coma until after Pitch visited me a few days ago. :iconscaredplz: It was terrifying! Here's a link to the journal I wrote about it. [link] I've been a bit out of it ever since that. So, this chapter came out darker than I thought it would.

Second, Sandy! Yes, I finally brought in another guardian! And, of course, it's Sandy! I love Sandy! He's so adorable, :iconexcitedblushplz: and I just want to hug him! I think he's my second favorite guardian right after Jack.

Next, I finally wrote a Jack's POV. Hope you guys like it! I haven't decided how I want to do the Jack's POVs and Zack's POVs yet, so you may see me switching the writing styles up on them. I'm not sure if I should put “she” and “(y/n)” or just stick with “you” when they're talking about the reader. Let me know what you guys think about this.

Edit: I decided to just stick with you in Zack's and Jack's POV. It makes the story flow nicer. I rewrote this chapter to fit around the change.

Lastly, I know it's not likely to speak or move in a coma, but Zack is a rare case. Your name is the only thing he can say. That's also why the lady at the front desk knew about him without looking up his name. He was the first case of talking in a coma state in this hospital, and that gossip has spread to many doctors all over the hospital.

Oh, yeah. One more thing, the lovely dovey stuff is coming! I'm sorry it's taking so long, but I don't believe in love at first sight! I mean, I do (for other people), but not for me. Your not going to start kissing or anything three days after you meet! You have to get to know Jack first.

Jack Frost, Jamie and other people from Rise of the Guardians are not mine and belong to Dreamworks.

Zack and the plot is mine! (Heehee, and so are you!)
